Esmeralda Pigram: Hello Jim,What you ask of is possible but pointless, you would only end up with either a bricked device (broken) or a device faking to be what it isn't. The apps that say they need "iOS 6" and higher to operate are not doing it for their benefit, their doing that because they don't want to break your device. If they took away that restriction, their app would only crash upon opening on your device, "why?" you ask? It's because your device does not have the hardware to handle the app any longer. With all the updates the developers have done to the app, your device has become obsolete and isn't really wanted by the devs seeing that they can make more money from the newer device owners. I mean the developers of the apps still care, they would love to still get your money from their in app purchases. But if there's only a few of you and more of the 2nd gen users, they won't waste their time. Take this example: Lets say I carry my milk to your home every Sund! ay since I know you will certainly buy it. Then one day when carrying that heavy load of milk cartons, I met a farmer that was closer to my farm that wanted to buy all the milk I had. Wouldn't I sell it all to him? I know we're friends and all and you always buy my milk, but this way, I won't have to stress and tire myself going all the way to your place when someone closer can do what you can do for the same price. I hope that helped, have a good one....Show more
Minh Lefrancois: Not stock from Apple, but there is ways. Start by jailbreaking the iPad and looking into "whited00r" for an unofficial software update. I believe the latest firmware is 5.1.1 and can be jailbroken using a lot of free tools. RedSn0w, Sn0wBreeze, Etc.
