Rose Krouse: Most major car companies have their own finance companies. GMAC used to be GM's credit company until they sold it. However, they recently announced the acquisition of another finance company just for that purpose. I'm thinking through the major ones and I know I have seen credit arms for Ford, Chrysler, Toyota and Honda within the last 12 months. A car company will most likely default to their own finance companies so if a major car company is trying to get you financing, and they ended up at a bank, it probably means you were turned down by their own financing. Also, if you go to a dealer and try to buy a used car, that will most likely be bank financing because the major car company's credit arm are for mostly new cars since they already made their money off the sale of the vehicle when it was new....Show more
