Everette Rovinsky: Project such as these always take a long time to deliver and are frequently over budget. The reason being there are just so many tasks that need to be plannned and executed, many of these are dependant on each other. The resources involved (people and materials) and other outside factors can have a huge impact on time and cost.
Toney Flaten: Even during W.W.II some ships took a great amount of time from when the keel was laid down, to commissioning!!!! Aircraft Carriers are large Warships; they take TIME to build!!!!!!!!
Jarrod Darnall: You are talking about a small floating city for 5,000 men and women and all they things they need to live, plus the equipment to maintain and fly aircraft. No small task.But if the Falklands taught us anything, it is surface ships are huge floating bulls eyes with today's missile technology.
