How many people search with quotation marks?

Norma Marsalis: I frequently do when a phrase is involved.

Sharolyn Claybourn: I do. The purpose of quotation marks (in Google at least) is to search for an exact phrase.Example 1. Let's say I found an article I liked that I printed out but I forgot the URL. To use google to find that article I would select a short line from that article and put it in quotes. Then google would only show results that contained that exact string. Now, let's say you want a specific word in your search to not be omitted. For example, "and" (without the quotes). In this case you would use a "+" sign before the and (+and) to not omit it from the search.Ex: Guns +and RosesMore or less, those are the search delimeters I use the most nowadays.Edit: most search providers do not provide such information, namely Yahoo and Google in terms of statistics for quotation usage. I can, however, tell you that the number of people that do this is probably less than 25%, even 15% would be surprising....Sh! ow more

Fritz Hawkey: I'm actually looking for statistics... as in e.g. 14% of internet users who use search engines make use of quotation marks in the their search query....

Connie Dickirson: I dont anymore... most search engines nowadays just omit it
